“While surveying Black and Latino students our data revealed that most of the their teachers do not set out clear standards. Therefore they feel academically rejected and this reflects on their Grade Point Average.”

Every Student Deserves....

The right to know what is expected of them in order to excel throughout the school year.

We define this as teachers notifying students of stipulates in the syllabus as well as commemorating students throughout the year on what they are supposed to have achieved by the end of the school year.

At Santa Monica High School most of the teachers only notify students at the beginning of the year of the standards and academic goals.

In order for students to give a good account of themselves they must know what is expected of them in order to obtain a fertile understanding of the material taught in class.

“We believe that in order for students to perform well academically, teachers must cooperate equally with students to agree on clear standards and goals that they both will accomplish by the end of the year.”
