"[Student participation] is important because today we’re fighting for hotel workers to have a decent living wage and to have the basic necessities and tomorrow it’s for us."

"[It is important for students to be here] because a lot of students have parents in the same position. I know my parents were in the same position, working for low wages, no benefits and that’s why we’re out here demonstrating. "
- Mr. Serna, professor at CSUN and former teacher at SAMO High.

. Interview with Dolores Huerta
Dolores Huerta: My name is Dolores Huerta and I am co-founder of the United Farm Workers.

Sebastian: Why are you here and why do you think this is important.

Dolores Huerta: I am here to support workers of the Doubletree in the march the students are going to be having. And hopefully we can get some justice for those workers.

Sebastian: Why do you think it’s important to the students, young people, teachers and all the Samohi staff and alumni to come to the march.

Dolores Huerta: Because it will show these workers that they’ve got support and hopefully the Doubletree company will pay attention and see that these are potential customers, and that will put a lot more pressure on them to sign the contract.

Sebastian: Are you confident that this march will be a success?

Dolores Huerta: Oh, I’m sure it will, definitely.
