Safety & Democracy

Student leaders at Mark Keppel High School describe their school as safe and/or democratic through pictures and tell why they chose certain locations, people, or events.

Mark Keppel is a fairly safe and democratic school. There are a few fights that break out in the halls, especially at the beginning and the end of the schools year, but they get broken up pretty quickly. There seems to be a lot of campus supervisors at our school patrolling on their bikes or golf carts which seems to make some students uneasy because we feel that we sometimes can’t do anything at all. As for our school being democratic, we have some public forums where students and administrators get to talk about different issues but they don’t happen too often. Communication between everyone on campus—teachers, students, administrators, and security is important to securing a good environment.
