Checked Box Suggestions for "Walk-In" Classrooms

from the Redwood City School District

Teachers need basic tools to promote powerful learning. How can we be sure that all teachers have these tools? The Redwood City School District's Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment program (BTSA) developed the following list of fundamental classroom materials teachers need to faciliate student work. District Support Providers (coaches of Beginning Teachers), the BTSA Director and the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum decided that the materials listed on the Walk-In Classroom Check-List are crucial tools to enable classroom management. This list is sent to all site administrators and beginning teachers each year. It serves as a suggestion for site administrators and gives beginning teachers permission to request these supplies at their site. It also helps ensure that all teachers at every site have an opportunity to start the school year with the necessary supplies.
