Please come prepared to discuss your organization’s experiences, priorities, campaigns, short and long term goals, and/or hard-won lessons. Feel free to bring any media pieces you’ve generated, mission statements, videos, or other "show and tell" pieces. (Let us know ahead of time if you anticipate needing any special media presentation equipment.) To focus the discussion, please limit your remarks to 5-10 minutes and address at least the following questions:

-What does your group see as the 3 most critical problems facing public education in California today?

-What are your strategies for addressing these problems?

Folks from Public Advocates and the ACLU will also discuss current legislative proposals impacting public education, and the class action case against the State.

12:00pm lunch will be served

1:00pm brainstorming session
Explore areas of commonality and friction, with an eye to potential resource-sharing and networking. Begin a dialog on how to aggregate grassroots power to have a voice in statewide issues. Help formulate the contents of a Bill of Rights for California’s Students, specifying the conditions of learning that every student deserves. Strategize about how to influence what’s on lawmakers’ and policymakers’ agendas.
