The Freedom Writer's Diary - a collection of student diary entries - chronicles a year in the life of 150 "unteachable, at-risk students" and their then-23-year-old teacher Erin Gruwell who, through literature, achieved success beyond the expectations of many. The commitment of these students to the promotion of tolerance and their transcendence of the labels that have been placed upon them sends a powerful message, and to hear it told in their own voices is pure magic. The Freedom Writers Diary
This web site gives children the opportunity to learn what government is and the role it plays in their lives. It reviews the voting process and the reasons why people vote. And finally, an interactive simulation allows students to experience what being the President of the United States is really like!
